This piece was selected to be recorded and performed by the Colombia National Symphony Orchestra at the "Sessions of New Colombian Composers" in 2012.
"Dejémonos de vainas!” is a quintessentially Colombian expression that roughly means —something like “Enough with all that!”— said in playful way. At first comes the complaining, the tears, the gloom, and all those other vainas. But sooner or later, the carnival that has been heard in the distance must arrive.

In the Colombian Andes exists a simultaneous, fantastical world where strange creatures dance, play, and delight in laughter and colors. Yet, in the distance, they catch a glimpse of a word called melancholy. Still, they carry on with their jokes and games, dancing and giving out embraces of Latin American provenance.
